NOVEMBER ‘24 COURSE HAPPENING NOW!

THE RISING APPROACH TO: CARING WORK CULTURES

We’re building a movement and fighting for a better future for everyone. Join us.

ABOUT THIS TRAINING

How do you truly live your values as an inclusive and caring employer? How do you create a culture that embodies care and enables everyone to bring themselves to work? What can other industries learn from the cultural and creative sector about care?

We have officially launched a new training programme targeted at individual practitioners, HR professionals, managers, CEOs and trustees around nurturing caring work cultures.

Since we began, Rising Arts Agency, has been championing new ways of building inclusive work cultures. In 2019, we were nominated for the National Diversity Awards for our work as a diverse youth-led organisation and became accredited as a real living wage employer, highlighting the importance of making your values visible to push change in the sector.

“We always have been a real living wage employer, but we wanted to join the national conversation about paying people fairly and be an example to the sector. I’m happy to publicly declare this position for Rising and to put us in the context of other businesses doing great work!”

– Jess Bunyan, Rising’s Co-Director.

Through our consultancy, commissions and training, we have provided sector-support and organisational development expertise to those looking to employ more inclusive practices. Particularly as younger generations demand more caring and inclusive workplaces following the Covid-19 pandemic.

In October 2023, Rising was named as one of four founding members of the West of England’s Good Employment Charter which seeks to promote fair and innovative workplace practices across the region. Rising’s unique approaches to building inclusive work cultures such as their progressive New Parents Policy, accessible recruitment processes and their ‘August of Rest’ - where the agency closes for a month and team members are paid to rest and reflect on their work have garnered national attention.

This new training programme is the first in a series of training that brings together key aspects of our work in a curated package that supports others to interrogate their own cultures and use tools to implement new approaches. It is a 4-week course starting in November 2024, built with accessibility in mind from its content to its design. Organisations can enrol with a sliding scale cost depending on the size, income and mission of the organisation.

frequently asked questions (FAQS)

  • This training is for anyone who is part of creating, setting or leading the culture of a place or space. We welcome managers, supervisors, CEOs, trustees, volunteers and everything in between

  • We offer a sliding scale of rates for our training to ensure they are accessible to as many people as possible. Using the example of AORTA we have linked this scale to the type of work you do or the privileges you have.

You can find out your rate through our short quiz here or read the requirements below.

Solidarity Rate £150 - for organisations doing movement building work, led by POC, working class or disabled people and with turnover under £100k

Sustain Rate £300 - for organisations doing movement building work, led by POC, working class or disabled people and with turnover over £100k

Full Cost Rate £450 - for organisations with tunover under £500k

Redistribution Rate £600 - for organisations with tunover over £500k

To ensure that cost isn’t a barrier, Freelands Foundation have sponsored places some places on the course.

  • This training has been structured in a way to encourage people to meet across different organisations and sectors, so for that reason, we limit the number of people per organisation that can enrol on each course.

If you would prefer to book something that your whole team can attend, please get in touch directly and we can deliver something bespoke to your organisation.

  • We know that diary clashes happen which is why we encourage you book on to this course as much in advance as possible.

While we recommend that you attend all the sessions to ensure that you get the most out of it, we have designed this process in a way that enables you to duck out if and when you need to.

There will be recordings of the sessions, and a live workbook for you to work through in your own time. The course facilitators will always be on- hand to catch you up on anything that you miss. If you are aware that you might not be able to make all the sessions, we encourage you to let us know as soon as you can so we can accommodate that.
