Introducing Rising’s New Board members

Rising welcomes 4 new board members!

We’re really excited to announce that Rising are bringing 4 new board members to our advisory board, Lindsey Allen, Tay Aziz Malik, Tyashia Patterson, come find out more about them!

Being youth-led is really important to Rising and it’s core to our mission. Ever since we were founded by Kamina Walton in 2016 alongside young people in the city, young people’s voices have been central to every level of the agency.

Towards the end of 2024, three of Rising’s board members stepped down, so we looked to recruit some new board members who could support us through the leadership transition, champion climate justice and ensure that our community is able to hold us to account at a strategic level.

All her work is grounded in anthropological methods, aiming to explore how people understand the world they live in, and their hopes and imaginaries around how this world could be.

“This is really exciting time for the agency, seeing as it’s our last full year as co-directors, it’s important to us that our governance remains representative of our community, and is equipped with the skills to support our leadership transition in 2026.

We can’t wait to see what they bring to Rising and our community!“
