‘Power in Partnerships’ Zine

We share the themes and recommendations from our 18-month research into how power affects partnerships in the cultural sector.

We’re excited to share the themes and insights from our work with Andreana Drencheva into how power dynamics manifest for grassroots organisations like Rising, the marginalised creatives we work for and the institutions we partner with.

We chose to share this in a zine form as it was a way to play with the traditional research report and to commission artwork from a Rising Artist, Indiana Lawrence to translate the themes visually.

You can skip to the themes that appeal to you, just focus on the recommendations or read through the whole thing cover to cover it’s totally up to you.

A group of people sat in chairs in a circle discussing how they feel about partnerships at our event at Bookhaus, the group is a mixture of Rising artists, funders and people who work at institutions

OR IF AUDIOS MORE YOUR THING:

As part of this work we’ve also made a podcast documenting the different phases of the research through reflective conversation between Rising’s Co-Directors Euella and Jess and our partner in this work Andreana Drencheva.

There’s also snippets from a lab we held with our community and in the fourth episode you’ll hear from the sector at the final THIS IS THE WORK event we held in November 2023.
