#WhoseFuture is Back...with a Twist

This time we're doing things differently. Our first billboard of the year is on the junction between Stapleton Road and Easton Way. It will be there throughout March 2022, and we need YOUR HELP to bring it to it's full *Rising* glory.

Reflection is a BIG part of our practice.

If you've been following us since the very first #WhoseFuture campaign in 2020, you would have seen how we've made changes to each campaign to address the things we've learnt along the way. The first #WhoseFuture campaign was bold, explosive and urgent but a massive drain on the core team's time and energy. It quickly became clear that we needed a more sustainable approach to prevent burnout. The second campaign, despite being about community care and rest, was in some ways more ambitious than the one before it.

So in 2021's #WhoseFuture campaign, we tried to build in capacity by bringing in a member of our community to design the campaign alongside us and a project manager to help us hold the extra load; 4 weeks of curated events and new artists.

Since then we've reflected on how we can have a sustainable, meaningful dialogue with the city that enables us to centre the things we value - rest, care and community. So we're trialling a new approach to #WhoseFuture this year, teaming up with Out of Hand.

We're intentionally taking things slower this time around with a single, interactive billboard that will move across the city throughout the year. This means we can really get under the skin of topics that matter to us, embed ourselves in the local community and not burn out on a short campaign!

Over the span of 6 weeks, a new word/theme will be added to the billboard’s question:

  • What does care feel like?

  • What does home feel like?

  • What does rest sound like?

  • What can protest look like?

GET INVOLVED:

1. Go and see the billboard: 5 Claremont St, Easton, BS5

2. Tell us:

"What does care feel like to you?" by scanning the QR code, or clicking this Typeform link. We'll paste your answer, leave the rest to us.

Over the next six weeks the billboard will change, grow and morph based on your answers.

#WhoseFuture is a campaign that raises awareness for our work at Rising - fighting for systemic change in the creative sector.

We're not core funded so if you believe in this work, support us on the regular with a couple quid a month and join the Rising Alliance.
