Totterdown Arts Trail

When I was young, I used to enjoy the Totterdown Arts Trail every year – it made the world of art much more accessible for me.

Since growing up and pursuing my own business as an illustrator, I’ve been keen to participate in the Trail. I’ve created an illustration of Totterdown in a similar style to my Bristol series. It features a load of Totterdown’s landmarks incuding “The Oxford Pub”, the “Holy Nativity Church”, “Arnos Vale Cemetery” and of course it’s signature terraced houses.

I invited people to colour in the houses on the illustration – along with all the other landmarks – on the 2016 trail.

The 2016 Trail

For the 2016 trail, I was asked to design the illustrations for the arts trail. The theme of the year was a circus.

I came up with an illustration that mixed some of the landmarks of Totterdown with different circus features: a big red top, helter skelter slide and a ferris wheel. Along with this, I used bold reds to help the illustrations stand out, and very stylised typography.
