MareWares is a new line of pottery I developed while on residency with Rising Art Agency at the beginning of 2017. Each piece is thrown on the wheel using red earthenware clay, noses and ears are formed and added. I then decorate each piece with handmade white and cobalt blue slips, giving each their own personality, before firing, glazing and firing again.

Pictured is a ceramic mug, taking the shape of a face. The mug is white and blue. It has a blue handle and blue facial features on top of the white body of the mug. The interior of the mug retains the red colour of the clay it is made from.
