Laura Waite

Artist, Curator and Facilitator. As a facilitator Laura engages families, children and service users within the mental health and homeless pathways in creative projects. Working in partnership with different sections of the community she aims to bring about discussion, sharing of ideas and projects that support service users to generate their own change and work with one another supportively. She is passionate about the therapeutic benefits of the arts on mental health and wellbeing. She is also a member and curator of Synecdoche, a Bristol based community of emerging artists. She enjoys creating exhibitions around the country that showcase the group’s diverse practices, discussing artwork and sharing ideas for new projects together. Since initiating Synecdoche she has pursued her love for curating through working with Fringe Arts Bath and Southmead Hospital. Laura gained a First Class BA in Drawing and Applied Arts in 2014 and has since continued to make and exhibit her artwork based out of her studio at The Island in Bristol city centre.
